Get active: Help more people register & vote

People reaching out to other people is how we will win

Daunted by trying to convince someone who to vote for? Don’t worry. There are many other things to do. You can help people register and find their polling place, remind them to get to the polls, do poll watching to look out for voter suppression, let people know if their ballot is rejected and how they can fix it, and more.

Work in a swing state

Are you in a swing state? (AZ, GA, MI, NV, NC, PA, WI) or a swing district, or want to travel to one and do this work in person? Contact the state Democratic party headquarters to learn about volunteer canvassing opportunities. Find training and support (incl. travel assistance) below in more ways to work on the ground. Protect the vote by poll watching in person or ballot curing from home below under voter protection.

Work from home (or with friends)

For all the rest of us there is much important work we can do to help those critical swing states from our homes or in local get togethers: phone banks, text banks, or writing letters and postcards (Yes, letters and postcards make a difference too! Each mode has audiences for which it works better and worse)

Help with Voter Protection

We need not only to get out the vote, but also to make sure everyone's vote is counted.  The Republicans are actively seeking to confuse and intimidate voters from voting and to disqualify ballots and block counting. New complicated voting rules are leaving more people confused or not knowing their ballot has bee rejected.  There is much you can do either remotely from home anywhere or in person in the swing states to help inform voters, answer their questions, and ensure their votes are counted whether by watching the polls or helping people whose ballots are rejected get them fixed (ballot curing). Here are groups you can work with:
